Who we are...

Integrated Holistic Care (IHC) is a Southern Oregon non-profit medical organization dedicated to helping people of all ages optimize their health through research, education, and holistic counseling. Nurses at IHC hold experience in both traditional and alternative medicine treatments and are available in person and over the phone. Our services are rooted in a whole systems approach to medicine that seeks to address the root cause of disease. Through individualized counseling and education, we hope to enhance our client's health and well being with comprehensive educational guidance while incorporating cannabis therapeutics.

The History of Cannabis

Medicinal use of cannabis dates back to Chinese Emperor Fu circa 2900 BC and is found in the Chinese pharmacopeia in 1500 BC. The bible references keneh bosem/cassia (aka cannabis) as an ingredient in holy oil used for anointing priests and sacred objects in Exodus 30. Jump forward to the 1600s and we see that for most of our nation’s history, farmers grew hemp for its fiber. Actually, King James I of Britain ordered settlers in the colonies to cultivate the plant. This agricultural staple was used to make sails, rope, bibles, clothing, maps, and medicine. During the 1920s a shift in perception began with the assistance of what now would be called social media (tabloids and Hollywood) and cannabis became “the devil’s weed.”

Chocolate Sweets Recipe

This quick and easy recipe is the perfect thoughtful gift for your sweetheart!

Ingredients:
·         1 ounce chopped nuts of
           your choice
·         ¼ ounce cannabis
           flower/bud
·         6 ounces dark chocolate

Directions:
Choose a mold (ie heart shaped). Using a grinder (a coffee grinder works great), chop up cannabis bud into a fine powder and set aside. Next, break dark chocolate into pieces and place in a double-boiler over medium heat stirring continuously. When mostly melted, add ground cannabis and continue to stir until completely melted and cannabis is completely stirred in. Remove from heat and add chopped nuts (you can also add other goodies to your sweety’s likings like M&Ms). Pour mixture into chosen mold and place in the refrigerator until hard.

If you prefer to use the microwave…melt chocolate in glass bowl for 30 seconds, add cannabis, melt and stir in 30 second intervals until completely melted.
